Animation Examples

This tutorial aims to show just a few of the animation features within Flash 8.

Timeline Effects

Step 1

Open Flash

Create a new document and draw a small circle on the stage and then select insert / timeline effects / effects / explode

Experiment with the settings, if you change any of the settings select update preview in the top right hand corner to update the animation.

Curves

Step 1

Create a new flash document and draw a small circle and convert it to a graphic symbol.

Step 2

Know select insert / new symbol give it a name of ballMC, select movie clip and then press OK.

In the ballMC timeline drag a copy of the ball graphic to frame 1 annd right click on frame 25 and insert a keyframe. Move the ball to a different location on the stage.

Step 3

Select frame 1 and open the properties panel found underneath the stage. From the tween options select motion, a solid blue arrow should be displayed in the timeline to indicate the motion tween between frames 1 and 25.

Now in the properties panel select the edit button found just next to the ease.

This will bring up the following panel

You can adjust the line and also create curves to give the animation a more realistic feel. For example this s shape curve would cause the animation to start of slow then speed up and finally slow down.

Step 4

Finally drag the ballMC to the stage and then control / test movie.
